Yogyakarta is known as The Cradle of Javanese Culture and Craft Centre. Visit the Hamengk ubuwono Kraton , which today remains the palace of the Sultan of Yogyakarta and his family, an 18th century complex of pools and waterways built in Portuguese style for the Sultan and his harem; and stroll through the centre of Yogyakarta’s silver industry in nearby Kota Gede.

Solo (Surakarta)

Solo is the old Royal City and a major repository of Javanese culture. Visit the city’s two Kraton - Surakarta and Mangkunegara - and ride a pushcart along the maze of white palace walls. Buy batik and antiques in Klewer Market and Triwindu Market. Then take a becak which will drive you around the old city. Included in the itinerary are a visit to an old traditional house in the Kraton area and to Indonesian most celebrated dancer a cum choreographer Sardono’s dance studio, a lovely old buildings’ complex near Kraton where you may be watching a rehearsal.

Semarang
a memory of an old time
Semarang is capital city of Central Java and situated on Java’s northern coast. It lies just about halfway between he extreme eastern and western coasts of the island. The environs around Semarang are perfect for day trip from Losari. The old records of this city dated back to the 15th century AD. Ancient and colonial monuments are still proudly standing to present date. In the older part of the city, near the harbour, you can still find an interesting collection of buildings dating back to the era of the Dutch Colonial and the Dutch East Indies Company, such as Gereja Blenduk, the eldest Christian Church in Central Java built by the Dutch community in 1753. It resembles the Church architecture of the 18th century with its huge dome and a baroque organ inside the building. Nearby the Church, there are some buildings from the Dutch colonial time. Stasiun Tawang, the main railways station with its “Old Time” architecture is also located in this area.
While Lawang Sewu, means
“Thousand Doors”,
is a remarkable building from the Old Dutch Time situated in the downtown of Semarang. Beside an interesting collection of Dutch Colonial buildings, there are also Chinese buildings remain. In the west part of Semarang, a Sam Po Kong temple or locally known as Gedong Batu (Stone Building) was dedicated to Chinese Moslem, Admiral Cheng Ho. His fleet arrived for the first time at 1406 AD. The other Chinese Buddhist temple is Tay Kak Sie at Lombok Street built in 1772. Duration: full day tour, Distance from Losari: 1,5 hours.
